Daniel “Booby” Gibson Quits the NBA to Become Full-Time Rap Star

The Cleveland Cavaliers had such high hopes for Daniel “Booby” Gibson when they selected him in the 2nd round of the NBA draft in 2006.

The 29-year-old point guard was destined for greatness after he led his Cavaliers to the NBA playoffs in his rookie season. But just 5 years later Gibson’s career was derailed when he met a beautiful R&B singer who introduced him to the fast life of the music industry.

Just one year later, sickness Gibson was injured, try and he hasn’t played since.

Gibson and his R&B wife, Keyshia Cole, parted ways in 2014, and the NBA gave up on Gibson.

But he never gave up on his dreams to become a rap star. The father of one spent the last of his NBA checks on studio time, honing his craft in recording booths and in smoky nightclubs.

Gibson finally announced his decision to quit the NBA on Power 105’s “The Breakfast Club”.

“I’m gonna give up my NBA career to start rapping,” Gibson said as radio host Charlamagne Tha God chuckled.

“Who you think a better rapper, you or Birdman?” Charlamagne asked Gibson.

Gibson responded as if he didn’t understand the question: “My biggest competition is reflection,” he rapped.
